Who we are

Zero In (“the game”, “the app”) is made and operated by blackpepper ltd (“we”, “us”). For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].

blackpepper ltd is the data controller for the small amount of information described below. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

What stays on your device

Most of the game never leaves your phone. The following is stored in the app's own private container and is removed when you delete the app:

• Your campaign progress, high score and finished-run history
• A saved game, if you used Save & Exit
• Your settings: music, sound effects, haptics and the analytics switch
• Your display name, if you set one

Puzzles are generated on your device. You can play the entire game offline and, if you never set a display name and turn analytics off, nothing is sent to us at all.

What we receive, and why

When the game talks to our server at gns.blackpepper.ltd, this is everything it sends:

You can turn gameplay events off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics. The game works exactly the same with it off.

Our server also records ordinary technical information that any web server logs when a request arrives, such as the IP address and the time of the request. We use it to keep the service running and to block abuse, and we do not use it to identify players.

Legal bases

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on these bases under the UK GDPR and GDPR:

• Performance of a contract for submitting and displaying your leaderboard entry, which is the feature you asked for by setting a display name.
• Legitimate interests for device verification and server logs, so that the leaderboard is not overrun by fake scores.
• Consent for gameplay analytics, which you give by leaving Share Analytics on and withdraw by switching it off.

How long we keep it

Leaderboard entries stay while the leaderboard is running, or until you ask us to remove yours. Analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days.

What we never collect

• Your real name, email address, phone number or postal address
• Your location
• Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera. The app never asks for these permissions.
• The advertising identifier (IDFA). There is no advertising in Zero In and no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we do not track you.
• Anything from third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. There are none in the app.
• Payment details. The one-time purchase that unlocks the full game is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card, your Apple Account or your billing address. The app only asks Apple whether this device has bought the unlock, and stores the answer locally.

This website

playzeroin.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties. Fonts, images and scripts are served from this domain only. Our web host records standard server logs as described above.

Children

Zero In is suitable for all ages and is rated 4+. It contains no advertising, no chat and no links out to social networks. There is a single one-time purchase to unlock the full game, which Apple handles and which is subject to the purchase approvals you have set up on the device, such as Ask to Buy. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because a display name is shown publicly on the leaderboard, please do not use a real full name, a school name or any other detail that identifies a child. We remove names that do.

Your rights and choices

• Turn analytics off in Settings, at any time.
• Stay off the leaderboard by not setting a display name.
• Change your name in Settings; your existing entry is updated.
• Ask for deletion. Email [email protected] with your display name and we will delete the entry and its score data.
• Delete everything locally by deleting the app, which removes all on-device data.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access, correct, export or object to our use of your data. Write to the address above and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, to your local supervisory authority.

Where data is processed

Our server is operated by blackpepper ltd. Where data is transferred outside your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK and EU standard contractual clauses.

Security

All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Leaderboard writes require a valid App Attest assertion, which means a modified or copied app cannot post scores.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be described in the App Store release notes.
